Envelop
Become one with the work
Our work on Embody got us thinking. The disconnect between the person and the surface can be just as problematic as the lack of harmony between the body and the chair. If we can design a chair to adapt to body movement, couldn’t we do the same for a desk? Everything would then work in tandem with one another.
Truth
A static surface forces a body to adapt to a space. It’s up to the person to stretch, lean, or hunch to interact with an object. A solution was needed to keep the body aligned with that object but in a variety of healthy postures.
Beauty
Designed to respond to the user and support the wrist and forearm, Envelop slides forward 7 inches and pivots down 7 degrees, essentially “enveloping” the body to bring the computer and its components near.
Outcome
With a sliding, flexible support surface, contoured body pocket, and the option of pin-height or electric sit-to-stand legs, the Envelop desk expands its applications to fit virtually any user in any environment. Home or office, the body is kept in harmony with the activity, limiting back, neck, and shoulder strain.
