what we do

We design products around the changing needs of people.

Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber with the Herman Miller Caper Chair
our work

We pioneered new ways of creative problem-solving around people’s needs beginning in the 1980s. As technology and our physical environments continue to change, so do the needs of the people using them. Understanding that change—and turning it into meaningful products—is our forte.

understand

We start with the problem.

We study how people move, work, rest, interact, adapt, and use the physical world around them. The opportunity often lives in the gap between what people need and what existing products allow.

make

Think through making

We sketch, prototype, test, engineer, and refine ideas in physical form. Making lets us expose assumptions early, understand materials and mechanisms, and discover opportunities that discussion alone cannot reveal.

realize

Bring meaningful products into the world

We work across form, ergonomics, engineering, materials, manufacturing, and business reality to turn ideas into products that perform beautifully—and create real value for the people who use them and the businesses that make them possible.

From our Minneapolis studio, Studio Weber + Associates provides industrial design and product development—from research and ergonomics to prototyping, engineering, and manufacturing support. Our work spans seating, mobility, household products, and outdoor equipment.
